Dosakaya Pappu (Cucumber Daal)






Dosakaya pappu is a very easy recipe. It can be made with moong daal or tour daal. Today I am preparing with tour daal. Hope you all enjoy this recipe.

Ingredients:

Cucumber- 2 medium
Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
Jeera- 1 tsp
Urad daal- 1 tsp
Channa daal- 1tsp
Hing- pinch
Turmeric- pinch
Onion - 1 medium
Green chilli- 2 no
Garlic- 4 no
Curry leaves- 4 no
Coriander leaves- 2 tbsp
Salt- for taste
Chilli powder- 1/2 tsp
Daniya powder- 1 tsp
Garam masala powder- 1 tsp(optional)
Oil- 1 tbsp
Lemon juice- 1 tsp(Optional)

Preparations:

1. Wash and peal the cucumber, chop them into small slices.
2. Wash the tour daal and soak abt 20mt.
3. Put daal and chopped cucumber in a cooker and cook for 3 vissles and keep aside.
4. Chop onion, green chilli, garlic, ginger, cilantro and keep aside.
Method:
1. Heat oil in the pan, add hing, mustard seeds, when they crackle, add jeera.
2. Add urad daal, channa daal, turmeric, curry leaves, ginger and garlic paste, mix well and fry abt 1mts.
3. Add green chilli, red chilli, onion and fry till onions becomes soft and transparent.
4. Add salt, chilli powder, green onion, lemon juice, daniya powder, mix well.
5. Add boiled daal and cucumber to the pan, mix well and cook abt 4mts.
6. Once its done, add cilantro and turn off the stove.
