Tomato And Onion Chutney









Tomato chutney is a wonderful dish and goes very well with the dosa and idli's also taste good with hot rice. It can be prepared in many ways. Here is my kind of recipe for it....
Ingredients:

Tomato - 3 medium
Onion- 2 medium
Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
Jeera- 1 tsp
Urad daal- 1 tsp
Hing- pinch
Turmeric- pinch
Green chilli- 2 no
Garlic- 2 no
Curry leaves- 4 no
Coriander leaves- 2 tbsp
Salt- for taste
Oil- 1tbsp+1 tsp
Ginger- inch slice
Red chilli- 2 no
Chilli powder- 1/2 tsp
Sugar- 1tsp

Preparations:
1. Wash and chop the onions and tomatoes. Keep aside.
Method:
1. Heat 1tbsp of oil in the pan, add ginger, garlic paste, hing and fry for a minute.

2. Add green chilli, onion chopped, mix well and cook till the onions turned little brown but don't burn them.

3. Add tomatoes, turmeric, salt and chilli powder, sugar, mix well and cook till the tomatoes are soft.
4. Cool them, add the tomato mixture, and gring as a coarsed chutney. (Add water if required).

5. In a pan, add 1tsp of oil, hing, musrad seeds, when they crackle, add jeera, urad daal, curry leaves, turmeric, red chilli and fry abt a minute.

6. Add the seasoning to the chutney, mix well (Check for the salt).
