Methi Pulao

Methi pulao is a colourful, flavourful dish which is made of Methi leaves or fenugreek leaves. These kind of Pulao's does not have any standard procedure. Each one prepare it according to their taste. Today I made it with the combinations of several procedures. But this came out really good. U can make any changes to this dish.






Ingredients:

Methi leaves- 1 bunch
Basmathi rice- 2 cups
Water- 4 cups
Oil- 2tbsp
Butter- 1 tbsp
Salt- for taste
Chilli powder- 1/2 tsp
Jeera- 1 tsp
Turmeric- pinch
Green chilli-3 no
Onion- 1 big
Curry leaves- 4 no
Coriander leaves- 1/2 cup
Cloves- 8 no
Bay leaves- 3 no
Cinnamon- inch slice
Tomato- 1 medium
Green peas- 1/4 cup(optional)
Garam masala- 1 tsp
Lemon juice- 1tsp (optional)
Ginger, garlic slices- 2tsp
Daniya powder- 1 tsp

Preparations:

1. Wash the methi leaves, chop it very finely and drain all the water.
2. Add 1tsp of salt to the chopped leaves, keep aside for 20mts.
3. Wash the rice and soak it for 20mts.
4. Chop the onion, green chilli, cilantro, tomato, ginger, garlic slices and keep aside.



Method:

1. Heat the pan, add oil and butter, add cloves, cinnamon and bay leaves, fry for 30sec.
2. Add jeera, turmeric powder, green chilli, curry leaves, onion slices and fry till onion becomes transparent.
3. Add chopped tomato, green peas and cook till tomatoes becomes soft.
4. Add daniya powder, chilli powder, salt, garam masala powder, lemon juice, mix well.
5. Drain salted water from the methi leaves, add it to the pan, mix well, cover with lid and cook abt 4mts.



6. check the salt, drain the water from soaked rice, add it to the pan, mix well, roast them for 3mts.
7. Now add all the mixture to the electric rice cooker, water, chopped coriander leaves, mix well and cook it.



8. Once it is done, serve hot with raita or a kurma or u can have it as it is.

Note:

1. Green peas are optional.
2. U can also prepare the entire process in Indian rice cooker.
3. U can also add Ghee instead of butter.
4. Since we have added the salt to the leaves, all the bitter taste goes out of it. So absolutely the dish won't have any bitter taste. Even kids will love this dish.
